How the age calculator works
Enter a date of birth and the tool works out the exact time elapsed until today (or any date you choose), broken into years, months and days. It also totals the days, weeks and months lived and counts down to the next birthday.
The calculation handles months of different lengths and leap years by comparing the actual calendar dates, so the result matches how we naturally count age — the day, month and year all have to “catch up” to the target date.
Frequently asked questions
Does it account for leap years?
Yes. Because it compares real calendar dates rather than assuming fixed-length months, leap years and varying month lengths are handled automatically.
Can I calculate age between two past dates?
Yes — set the “age at date” field to any date. It's useful for finding someone's age at a past event, or the gap between two dates.
